A modem update is only required when updating from less than v2.0.0 (anything on v1.x.x) to v2.0.0 or later.

In this case, both the screen and the modem should be updated at the same time.

V2.0.0 enables OTA updates, so no future manual updates will be required after this process.

Requirements:

• Modem firmware update files (not publicly available - contact CranePower for these files)
• Ethernet cable
• Windows (10 or 11) PC with ethernet port
• Physical access behind E-Gen front panel, and power (see Firmware Update Access and Power )

Update setup:

Ensure you have the correct files and an active ethernet connection to the modem:

1. Files

After receiving a modem firmware bundle from CranePower, unzip the file directory to anywhere and open ModemTool.exe :

Only run ModemTool.exe from the firmware bundle directory. Moving the .exe (or other files) can cause the update to fail.

2. Network interface setup:

Next, connect your laptop to the modem via ethernet. You should connect in via the WAN slot:

Connectivity can be confirmed by the ethernet feedback lights.
