Requirements

Isolating your E-Gen

Before work inside an E-Gen can be undertaken safely, it must be isolated to ensure there is no risk of electrical injury.

Powering off your E-Gen

  1. On the control panel side (front) of the unit, open the front door panel by inserting the key into the latches and unlocking, then depressing the latch buttons to release.

  2. Lift the front door panel to gain access to the front panel, which contains the control panel switch, control panel, and MCCB switch.

  3. Open the MCCB by turning the switch to OFF (O).

  4. On the control panel, turn off the inverters by tapping OFF on the Home page.

  5. Then, turn the control power switch to OFF (O).

  6. On the connection side (rear), remove the single-phase or three-phase input cable.

  7. Remove all output cables.

Removing the Manual Service Disconnect (MSD) fuse(s)

  1. On the connection side (rear) of the unit, remove the rear panel by inserting the key into the latches and unlocking, then depressing the latch buttons to release.

  2. Keep a hold of the rear panel as it fully detaches from the chassis, lifting to remove.

  3. Identify the filter vent to gain access to the MSD fuse(s):

  4. Locate and loosen the four (4) Phillips-head screws securing the filter vent, then carefully lift out both the filter vent and the filter.

  5. Identify the MSD fuse(s) attached to the Battery Management System (BMS):

  6. Pull the locking collar to unlock the MSD fuse(s):

  7. Pull the MSD fuse(s) straight out toward you and place on top of the unit with the connectors pointing upward.

    <aside> ❗

Ensure that the MSD fuse connectors remain clean and are not damaged while removed from the unit.

Once completed, the unit is now isolated.

Removing the lid panel

  1. On the control panel side (front) of the unit, identify the top three (3) 10mm Nyloc fasteners at the top corner on the left and right sides.

  2. Loosen them sufficiently, but do not remove them entirely. Lower the hatch slightly to access any fasteners impeded by the hinges.

  3. On the connection side (rear), identify the six (6) 10mm Nyloc fasteners. These are split into three (3) at the top corner on the left and right sides.

  4. Loosen them sufficiently, but do not remove them entirely.

  5. On top of the unit, insert the specialized removal tool into the Lifting Eye, and using a breaker bar or lever for additional torque, loosen and unscrew the Lifting Eye.

  6. On the control panel side (front), locate and remove the three (3) or six (6) M5 Dome bolts on the front panel door(s) and swing open.

  7. Unscrew the five (5) or ten (10) M6 Socket head bolts and remove the inverter and charger retaining bar(s).

  8. Loosen the Phillips head screws securing the tops of the inverters and the charger.

  9. Using a firm, steady pull, release the units from their seated position. Carefully slide each unit out one at a time and place in a safe location.

Pinch Hazard. Hand placement is critical during removal. The clearance through the access hatch is extremely tight; ensure your fingers are clear of the housing edges.

  10. From inside the unit, locate and remove the twenty-four (24) 10mm Nyloc nuts (12 per side) that secure the top side trim plates.

  11. Lift away the top side trim plates to fully release the roof panel.

  12. With two people, lift away the lid panel.

    <aside> ⚠️

During removal, inspect and protect the O-ring around the lifting eye and the foam perimeter seals. If these are pinched or torn, they must be replaced to maintain the unit's weatherproofing.

Accessing and charging the TMS

  1. From the top of the unit, locate the TMS positioned on the connection side (rear).
